About Us

Welcome to the Coeur d'Alene Composite Squadron, Idaho Wing, Civil Air Patrol!

The Coeur d'Alene Composite Squadron is North Idaho's primary resource for delivering the following 3 local community services:

Aerospace Education - for all ages,

Cadet Programs - and Associated Activities for our area youth,

Emergency Response Services - Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief, Humanitarian Support, Counter Drug, and U.S. Air Force domestic support operations.

NOTICE: Senior Meetings are now on the 1st and 3rd THURSDAYS of each month! The meeting time now is 6:30 pm for both Cadet and Senior meetings.

Our unit of professionally trained Adult Civilian Volunteers and our Youth Cadet Corps numbers approximately 110 members, and are available upon request to provide our services to any private organizations, or civilian and governmental agencies who might not otherwise have access to these resources. Currently our unit operates Cessna 206 and 182 aircraft equipped with the latest avionics, an eleven passenger van, and a rugged 4x4 utility vehicle for our Ground Team.

Our hangar and offices are located on the grounds of Pappy Boyington Field (Coeur d'Alene Airport) in Hayden, Idaho.

All of our mission pilots, aerial observers, and ground team personnel are trained in compliance with FEMA's Incident Command System (ICS) to conduct missions in the tough terrain and adverse weather conditions of our local Northern Idaho mountains and forests, as well as our more urban areas.

The Civil Air Patrol is always looking for new members interested in joining our premier national community service organization. Whether you are a youth or parent looking for a challenging and rewarding extra-curricular activity based on the ideals of our parent organization, the United States Air Force, or you are an adult (whether or not you have any previous military, aviation, aeronautical, or search and rescue experience) who desires to make a difference in our local community, we invite you to contact us to learn how you can join our team.

Our Adult (Senior) Members meet on the first and third Thursdays of every month at 6:30 PM, and our Cadets meet every week on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM at our airport office building. Unless otherwise noted, all of our meetings are open to the public and parents / guardians of local area youth are especially welcome to come and learn about our Cadet Program!

The Civil Air Patrol also fulfills the role of providing our local U.S. Air Force commanders a trained civilian auxiliary to call upon for non-combat domestic support missions.
